November 2021

Welcome to our November Newsletter, it is a busy time of year here at the ranch! Since August we have been fertilizing hay pastures so we can bale hay in October. Mainly, this means we place cattle in different pastures depending on their age and production models. To make sure each pasture meets the animals’ nutritional requirements, we order high quality Peanut and Alfalfa hay for the finishing phase of our grass fed program. Throughout October we have been clipping old growth forage so that ryegrass and clover can seed for the winter season of grazing.

We’ve also been mending fence lines to keep our herd safe and protected.

Rotational grazing of our livestock gives us a lot to do all year, and we hope you are as pleased as we are with the results!

All the best,

Shannon Gonsoulin, DVM

We are very excited to announce a partnership with the newly-formed Coastal Plains Meat Company based in Eunice, LA. Coastal Plains will purchase our beef then process and deliver it to our clients in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette areas.

This exciting partnership will allow us to deliver Gonsoulin quality beef beyond Acadiana. We will still be processing our beef, lamb and pork at our facility in Abbeville for our Farm Store and farmers markets.
